AI Engineering Fundamentals

ABOUT THE COURSE:

Participate in a two-day workshop and learn AI Engineering as an independent discipline. This course offers you a complete immersion—you will learn not only about working with LLM APIs but also about creating, evaluating, and improving systems based on artificial intelligence. Starting with a canvas tool for creating diagrams, you will gradually turn it into an intelligent design tool with a chat interface. We will create an agent and evaluation structures (evals) to step by step improve the system's quality using context engineering, RAG, and other methods. You will gain practical experience in all key areas that will be in demand in the AI engineers' market in 2026.

Workshop Goals and Objectives

In this workshop, you will learn to:

Differentiate between AI and ML engineering and understand why evals are becoming the new standard for testing.

Create stateful chat agents on Cloudflare Workers using the Agents SDK.

Develop benchmark datasets and eval pipelines to identify regressions and improve metrics.

Master context engineering, accurately shaping input data at the inference stage.

Implement safe code execution and utilize few-shot examples for effective tool search.

Apply RAG with Cloudflare Vectorize for working with domain-specific knowledge.

Create React chat interfaces with token streaming and generative UI support.

Extend the basic agent loop, using Observe–Predict–Update, multi-agent interactions, and voting.

Gather user corrections for evals and build a feedback loop for improving the agent.
